What to Expect

As you arrive, you’ll be on the peaceful campus of the Oregon Episcopal School. We’re the modern building with the big cross just beyond the belltower. There’s lots of parking!

As you come through the double doors, you’ll be greeted and offered a bulletin that contains everything you’ll need to follow along in worship – prayers, words and music, and cues on when to stand and sit. You’ll see people of every age and gender identity.

We will welcome you exactly as you are, and we hope you will feel free to get to know us. After the 10:00am service, please feel free to join us in the Narthex (a little like a lobby) for great treats and coffee.

8:00am Service

You'll hear the traditional language of the original Book of Common Prayer, in a quiet, spoken service. It’s a small, faithful gathering. Some attend for the calmness and quiet, the beauty of “thee, thy, and thine;” others like to start their worship early in the day to get on with their Sabbath.

10:00am Service

At the 10:00 service, the pews will fill in, and you’ll see our Zoom attendees pop up on the large screen. Our worship is traditional, but we try not to be stuffy. We love to sing, including the psalms or creed, and hymns. You’ll also hear the organ, piano, choir, and soloists.

There will be a sermon or homily (about 12 minutes, and no fire and brimstone) based in the Scripture of the day, with the goal of connecting readings to our everyday lives. We’ll pray for each other and for the world, and we’ll invite people to come forward for special blessings for birthdays, anniversaries, or other life events.

Eucharist

Every single Sunday, we celebrate the Eucharist (also known as communion). We invite you to come forward and receive communion: a wafer and wine—or just a blessing. Some choose to take just a wafer. Yes, we have gluten free wafers! No matter where you are in your journey of faith, you are welcome to take communion.

Kid Stuff

Kids are welcome in worship every Sunday, especially on our Third Sundays, when our 10:00 service is shorter, more contemporary, and the sermon is tailored to younger ears. There’s always a children’s table available up front for busy fingers.

Our Children’s Corner, staffed by SafeChurch-certified attendants, is open every Sunday (except summer) and welcomes all kids (best for 4-8 year-olds) for learning, making, and play. There might be a game, story, or crafts based on a Bible story, or the day’s lesson.

Accessibility

People of all abilities are welcome in our worship space, with special accommodations for wheelchairs and walkers (we will bring communion to you), accessible gender-neutral restrooms, and (call ahead) a golf cart that will meet you in the parking lot.

For those who can’t travel to our site we offer Zoom access to our 10 a.m. Sunday service and our Daily Offices. (Click here for more times and Zoom links).

We also offer in-person pastoral visits and conduct many of our routine business meetings online to reduce barriers.
